Smash The Windows
Smash The Windows began as a Civil War period dance project in 2006 and branched out to play contras and festivals in 2007.
Smash The Windows is:
Bruce Young on fiddle, guitar, and voice
Carolyn Gardner on flute, and voice
Peggy Shutes-Kaiser on piano, Appalachian and hammered dulcimers, and voice
with various other musicians sitting in on the side as circumstances dictate.
Their music features Sligo-style Irish and New England jigs and reels but also includes Bluegrass and Old Timey tunes as well as a nice selection of waltzes and couples dances.
Their first CD of 19th century dance music and songs was released in June 2011 and is entitled Smash The Windows Requests The Pleasure Of Your Company. Excerpts may be heard at their Myspace site, www.myspace.com/smashthewindows or on the CDBaby STORE page of this site.
Dancing beats sitting every time!
